Super Eagles To Announce New Coach Soon- Pinnick
Former Nigeria Football Federation NFF president Amaju Pinnick has revealed that the Super Eagles will appoint a substantive head coach any moment from now.
Speaking on an interview, Pinnick, who is also a FIFA Council member, said, "Any moment from now, I am sure they would be announcing a coach, an enterprising coach at that."
The Super Eagles have been without a permanent coach since George Finidi's departure in June 2024, following Jose Peseiro's exit after Nigeria's second-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON.
Augustine Eguavoen has served as interim coach, leading the team to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. However, the NFF is keen to appoint a new head coach ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria currently sits fifth in Group C of the African qualification series, with three points from four games, trailing leaders Rwanda by four points. The tournament will take place in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
