Stellenbosch Src Ends Class Boycott Over Student Debt, Accommodation
The Student Representative Council SRC of Stellenbosch University says that its class boycott over student debt and lack of accommodation will not be continuing tomorrow.
SRC Executive member Roceshia Februarie says theyve reached agreement with the university to resume classes after lectures had been disrupted last week.
She says the SRC is demanding that the university allow students with historic debt to register for the current academic year.
Februarie says the university has now put measures in place to assist students with outstanding fees.
They were able to add money to Student Debt Working Group, which is an initiative of the SRC where we trying hard for students to pay off their debt. They gave us a reasonable amount which means quite a lot of students that currently have fee blocks will be able to register. They also agree that students owing up to R10 000 will be allowed to register.
