Stellies looked to be well prepared for the game and had a positive start as they dominated the opening 15 minutes of play. However, despite looking like the better team, Galaxy opened the scoring through Kamogelo Sebelebele in the 17th minute.
The home team would quickly recover and continue to keep possession. The breakthrough eventually came in the 25th minute and didnt take long for Jayden Adams to level matters. Stellenbosch were in the driving seat as the game grew more competitive.
Just before the stroke of half time, Andre De Jong grabbed the lead for Stellies as he headed home from a Fawaaz Basadien corner. The scoreline was 2-1 at the break, with the home team recovering well after falling behind.
