The State won't oppose bail for former DA and City of Cape Town councillor Malusi Booi and his co-accused, following their arrest in connection with a fraud and tender corruption investigation, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Booi and several other high-ranking officials appeared at the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.

Booi and nine co-accused face 15 allegations, including corruption, racketeering, intimidation, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit fraud.

Booi was apprehended in the Eastern Cape on Monday evening by a team made up of Western Cape Police Commercial Crime Unit detectives and Anti-Gang Unit organised crime investigators.

This comes after the authorities searched his workplace in March of last year and confiscated computer gadgets.
