State prosecutor in the Pastor Paseka Mboro Motsoeneng case, Phehello Vilakazi says the safety of the state witnesses will be compromised if he and the other two accused are released on bail.

Pastor Mboro , his son and bodyguard are appearing at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court today.

They have been charged with assault, intimidation and contravention of the Dangerous Weapons Act.

This relates to a video that went viral on social media showing the trio, armed with pangas and a gun, forcibly entering Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni two weeks ago.

The state is opposing the accused bail application, while the three accused have pleaded not guilty. The court heard that Mboro has been arrested nine times however, the cases are still under investigation.
