Standard Bank Ucount Rewards Boost For Shoprite And Checkers Customers

Members of Standard Banks UCount Rewards programme will get up to 30 back in Rewards Points at Shoprite and Checkers stores from April 2025.

The bank and Shoprite Group announced the new partnership in a statement to newsrooms on Thursday 27 February.

The programme allows members to earn Rewards Points whenever they use their qualifying Standard Bank personal credit, cheque or debit card. With Shoprite and Checkers stores now designated as Rewards Retailers, members will get more points when they shop there.

This collaboration boosts UCount Rewards benefits and will allow customers to redeem Rewards Points for groceries and other products both in-store and online, Standard Bank said .

Members will receive the following benefits on all products:

  • Up to 30 back in Rewards Points in-store at Shoprite and Checkers.
  • Up to 40 back in Rewards Points from Sixty60 .
  • Flexibility to redeem Rewards Points both in-store and online.

"This partnership unlocks powerful synergies between Africa's largest bank and Africa's most extensive retail network - ensuring that customers enjoy greater savings and rewards on everyday grocery purchases, said Funeka Montjane, Chief Executive of Personal and Private Banking at Standard Bank.

Shoprite Group CEO Pieter Engelbrecht added, "We do not believe in reducing value to customers in these tough times.

That is why we are so pleased to partner with Standard Bank who are offering additional, clear value to our customers as well as Discovery Vitality who share our commitment to help customers live better every day.

The new partnership comes after the group ended its FNB eBucks partnership, effective 31 March 2025.

The group launched the Discovery Vitality HealthyFood benefit in September 2024. It gives Vitality members up to 75 back in Discovery Miles on more than 2,500 products at Checkers, Checkers Hyper and on Sixty60.
