springboks expect a tough encounter against revvedup pumas

The Springboks expect that Argentinas outside chance of winning the Rugby Championship will motivate the Pumas even more when the two teams clash in Santiago del Estero on Saturday evening.

Argentina have never won the title and if they can beat the Boks on home soil with a bonus point this weekend, and in South Africa after that, they can achieve their highest honour yet as a rugby nation.

The last time these two teams clashed in the Rugby Championship in Argentina was two years ago. The Springboks won 36-20 on that occasion.

The Boks have won the last eight games against the Pumas, but according to assistant Bok coach, Deon Davids, the 2024 version of the team has stepped up to new levels.

"They got an intelligent coach, they are on an upward curve and if you look at the profile of their team, they have the usual customers that are tough as nails like, the Matera's and the backline has really benefitted from the sevens academy and you could see those skills in the last few games," says Davids.
