Springbok Centre Andre Esterhuizen has effectively been banned for three matches following his red card in the Springboks test match against Portugal in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Esterhuizen was red-carded for his head clash with Portuguese midfielder Jose Lima early in the match.
He was found guilty of foul play and received a four-week ban that will be reduced to three if he completes a World Rugby coaching intervention course.
The ban rules him out of Currie Cup matches and South Africas first two Rugby Championship test matches against Australia next month.
But Esterhuizen will be available for the test matches against New Zealand on the 31st of August and the 7th of September in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
