On a very sad day for the SPCA, the animal rescue organisation was forced to rescue dogs from another sanctuary, meant to protect and save animals in desperate need of love and care, Cape {town} Etc reports.

Overcrowding at the facility made it very difficult to check each and every dog but the SPCA confirmed that it did remove 31 dogs under a warrant on Wednesday.

These were identified by an independent veterinarian who accompanied us to the facility as being the animals most in need of care. This included a dog with infected burn wounds who had been burnt in a fire on 14 August and had not yet seen a vet, a puppy with a septic head wound and a dog that was lame and unable to walk at all (to name just a few of the serious concerns found).

'We understand that the facility recently faced both flood and fire but the conditions the animals were found in were symptomatic of longstanding neglect and not related to either disastrous event,' said the SPCA,

The SPCA issued the facility with a warning with several conditions that need to be met including reducing the numbers of animals on site by half.
