Spca Confirms The Tragic Death Of A Chained Dog After Field Fire Outbreak
The Cape of Good Hope SPCA reported a severe case of animal cruelty after an inspection revealed farm animals trapped in inhumane conditions and confirmed the devastating death of a chained dog, unable to escape a fire which had interrupted in the area,
The SPCA team entered the property with a warrant issued in terms of the Animals Protection Act, following multiple warnings to the owner about the poor welfare of confined farm animals and a chained dog on the property.
The scene was described to be a nightmare as it featured animals suffering in extreme heat without access to water.
A sheep, chickens and ducks were removed from the property.
Inspectors were however unable locate a dog who was previously seen chained in the same spot during prior visits. The team then came across evidence of a fire in the area where the dog had been chained.
