As South Florida braces for the aftermath of Hurricanes Milton and Helene, the nonprofit organization Food For The Poor has sprung into action to support the region's most vulnerable communities.

In addition to helping those impacted by Hurricane Milton, the charity continues to provide critical assistance to families still recovering from the devastation left by Hurricane Helene.

Operating from its Coconut Creek warehouse, FFTP has launched a hurricane collection drive, seeking donations of cleaning and hygiene supplies that are essential for families rebuilding their lives.

Jisabelle Garcia-Pedroso, FFTP's director of disaster preparedness and response, said the organization is working through local church networks to ensure that aid reaches the hardest-hit areas.

While FFTP's focus is currently on providing relief in response to Milton, the organization has not lost sight of the continuing struggles faced by communities still reeling from Hurricane Helene. For weeks, the nonprofit has been delivering food, water, and emergency supplies to families in need, but the demand for essential goods continues to rise.
