Donald Trump comments on South Africa - again

Ive stopped having money go to South Africa - billions of dollars, Trump told reporters, adding that he would look into Hunter Biden travelling with 18 secret service agents .

In 2024, South Africa received 453 million around R8.5 billion in funding from the US under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief PEPFAR.

It was projected to receive 439 million in 2025 R8.2 billion before Trump cut aid to the country in February, citing the Expropriation Act, South Africas perceived close ties to Iran and its aggressive stance against Israel.

Later on Monday, he announced on Truth Social that he had revoked Bidens security along with his sister Ashley Bidens.

He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the human rights of people has sic been strenuously questioned. Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of countries receiving economic and financial assistance, Trump claimed.

However, his claims of government-sponsored race-based discrimination against the minority Afrikaner community in South Africa have widely been refuted as false.

The South African government maintains that the Expropriation Act is aimed at promoting land ownership among black people, who were previously marginalised and dispossessed during apartheid.
