Wright was coach Joe Schmidt's surprise choice as his first captain and the Queensland Reds flanker steered the Wallabies to a gutsy 25-16 win over the Welsh in Sydney last weekend.
But the 26-year-old hurt his right shoulder in the second half and left the field.
The man who replaced him, Charlie Cale, has been elevated for a starting debut at No 8 with Rob Valetini pushed to blindside flanker.
