The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) says it may have to sell some of former South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) COO, Hlaudi Motsoenengs assets in order to recoup the money he has to pay back.

This comes after the Constitutional Court dismissed his appeal to overturn an order to repay a R 11.5 million success fee he received from the public broadcaster.

This fee was deemed unlawful and invalid by the High Court in Johannesburg.

SIU Spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago says, "We expect that he can come and indicate how hes going to pay but if not, we have to then look at what he has and then be able to sell the property if he has. The whole amount was R 11.5 million, but because of the court challenges, also costs that were incurred because when he lost some of these cases against us, there were costs that were allocated to that because we won the cases with costs that he has to pay us, plus the interest and the amount ended up going up to about R 18 million."
