Sinner Qualifies For Australian Open Quarterfinals

World number one and defending champion , Jannik Sinner of Italy, has booked his place in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The 23-year-old who also won the US Open last year, beat Denmarks 13th seed, Holger Rune, in their fourth-round match 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Sinner joined in the last eight by his unseeded countryman, Lorenzo Sonego.

Sonego beat American teenager Learner Tien 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinal of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his 12-year professional career.

Meanwhile, there was an upset in the fourth round of the womens singles at Melbourne Park.
