Sicelo Clinic Reopens In Midvaal After 2017 Fire
Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, will officially reopen the Sicelo Clinic in Midvaal, Sedibeng District, this morning.
The clinic, which served over 7 000 people, was burned during a community protest in 2017.
The newly rebuilt clinic will focus on preventative healthcare, offering services such as mother and child health and chronic illness management.
Gauteng Department of Health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba said the reopening marks a new chapter for the community.
Modiba says, "The community has since expanded significantly to over 11 000 and people have had to travel a bit of a distance to access services or go to the nearest Midvaal Community Day Care for services which resulted in many people missing their appointments and creating high healthcare risks for the public."
