Several Illegal Immigrants Arrested In Truck Trailer In Free State
Forty-seven adults and four children between the ages of nine months and five years have been discovered by traffic officers in the rear trailer of a truck during at a roadblock on the N1 south bound in the Free State.
Of the group, 28 were found to be illegal immigrants from Lesotho. They have been arrested for contravening the Immigration Act.
The truck driver has been charged with transporting passengers for reward without an operating license and the vehicle has been impounded.
Meanwhile, travelers along various Free State roads have welcomed police visibility. This, as many people head to various destinations ahead of Christmas.
Deputy Minister of Police Cassel Mathale participated in various roadblocks across the province as part of the nationwide Safer Festive Season Campaign.
