Seasonal Flights Boost Seychelles-reunion Connectivity Over Festive Period

Air Seychelles has announced the successful completion of its seasonal operations to Runion from December 30 to January 18. Over this period, the airline carried nearly 500 passengers across eight rotations, highlighting strong demand for connectivity between the islands.

The seasonal service included two direct flights between Seychelles and Runion alongside additional routes via Mauritius. This initiative aimed to improve accessibility and promote travel between the two destinations. It was implemented in collaboration with Tourism Seychelles as part of broader efforts to strengthen regional travel ties.

The operations followed the signing of a Special Prorate Agreement SPA with Air Austral in June 2024, which allowed Air Seychelles to provide key connections after Air Austral suspended flights to Seychelles. The SPA has enabled the airline to expand its regional network and maintain essential links between Seychelles and Runion.

Air Seychelles Chief Commercial Officer Charles Johnson said: We are pleased to have operated our first round of commercial flights between Seychelles and Runion during the festive peak season. We anticipate offering more direct services during school holiday periods when demand increases. Throughout the rest of the year, we provide connectivity to Runion on all of our three weekly flights via Mauritius.

Johnson also noted close collaboration with Tourism Seychelles in promoting travel between the two destinations to ensure visitors can explore the unique offerings of both islands.
