The City of Cape Town has announced the temporary closure of the Sea Point swimming pool for essential repairs following the discovery of a sinkhole, Cape {town} Etc reports.
The sinkhole, which resulted from a collapsed water line, has made the area unsafe for public use. In response, the City has implemented safety measures, including fencing and signage, to restrict access to the affected areas.
Cape Town Community Services and Health NNC Patricia Van der Ross noted that the Sea Point pool, a year-round favourite among locals, is undergoing a thorough inspection to assess the damage.
'The sinkhole's formation required us to excavate the entire water line to evaluate the extent of the repairs needed,' Van der Ross explained.
'We regret any inconvenience this may cause and are committed to completing the repairs as quickly as possible.'
