save our sabc welcomes sius probe into tna breakfast briefings

Save Our SABC SOS Board Chairperson Samkelo Mokhine says they welcome the launch of investigations into the agreement between the public broadcaster and the Gupta-owned TNA Media over the TNA Breakfast Briefings programme.

This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa signed a proclamation authorising the Special Investigating Unit SIU to probe serious maladministration.

Mokhine says these breakfast programmes diverted funds from the SABC .

The back story to all of this is that the SABC has been having a lot of financial problems as we are all aware and even at this present time, its supposed to be technically insolvent whereby the liabilities exceed its assets and each and every year the government has to bail the SABC out.

In the context of an SABC thats in financial trouble, the breakfast did not seem to have added much value to the SABC itself and instead seems to have diverted funds away from the SABC .
