The Steve Biko and Frantz Fanon award for psychological liberation will be awarded to the legal team that presented South Africas case at the International Court of Justice ICJ in the Hague at the beginning of the year.
The award will be given at the opening ceremony of the joint 30th anniversary of the Psychological Society of South Africa and the 10th anniversary of the Pan-African Psychology Union Congress at Emperors Palace on Gautengs East Rand.
The legal team strategically navigated historical and geopolitical nuances, demonstrating an enlightened and emancipated understanding of the issues at hand.
The legal team is being recognised for their successful action which is seen as a step towards dismantling the radical humanism that Fanon and Biko espoused.
Nkosinathi Biko, the founder and executive trustee of the Steve Biko foundation says, The organisation supported the award to the distinguished panel that represented South Africa at the ICJ. The Psychological Society of South Africa will also be celebrating three decades of transformation, growth and dedication to the field of psychology, having been a beacon of excellence over the past 29 years.
