In the past week, the Western Cape SAPS commercial crimes unit detectives along with the Anti-Gang Units organised crime investigators made several arrests in Johannesburg, Eastern Cape and Cape Town.
The arrests were made in connection with an investigation into alleged activities of fraud and corruption at the City of Cape Towns human settlements directorate.
The investigation initially commenced as a result of commercial crimes detectives who noted that investigators descended into the City of Cape Town offices in March of last year and seized a number of items as part of an alleged probe.
This sparked an investigation of fraud and corruption related to a tender case within the City.
Following this investigation, SAPS members arrested a 46-year-old suspect on Monday evening, in the Eastern Cape.
