Sanctioned Russian Billionaire's Superyacht Spotted At Va Waterfront
The Cloudbreak superyacht, owned by Russian businessman Alexander Alexandrovich Svetakov, has recently docked in Cape Town. The yacht, valued at approximately R2.1 billion, is 72 meters long and boasts luxurious features such as a helipad, spa, underwater lights, and a beach club. It can accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins.
Svetakov, who has a net worth of around 2.5 billion, is facing sanctions from both the US and the EU due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Despite this, the yacht's presence in Cape Town is legal under South African law, as South Africa is a member of BRICS and has not placed sanctions on Russian-owned vessels.
