Salah Breaks Record In St. James' Park Thriller
Mohamed Salah Breaks Wayne Rooneys Premier League Record in Thrilling Draw Against Newcastle
Mohamed Salah made history in a dramatic 3-3 draw with Newcastle, scoring twice and providing an assist to break a long-standing Premier League record held by Wayne Rooney. Both teams exchanged leads throughout the match before settling for a share of the points.
Newcastle took the lead in the 35th minute with Alexander Isak's goal. However, Liverpool responded quickly in the second half, as Salah set up Curtis Jones to equalize. Newcastle regained the lead in the 62nd minute through Anthony Gordon, but Salah brought the game level once again just six minutes later.
The Egyptian forward then put Liverpool ahead in the 83rd minute with his second goal of the match. However, in stoppage time, Fabian Schar scored for Newcastle to secure a point for The Magpies.
While Liverpool didnt claim all three points, Salah stood out by breaking Wayne Rooney's record of 36 Premier League matches with both a goal and an assist, setting a new benchmark with 37 such performances. He also netted his 30th Premier League brace, becoming just the eighth player in Premier League history to reach that milestone.
Salah currently leads the Premier Leagues top scorers with 13 goals, surpassing Erling Haaland's 12. He also ranks second in league assists with 8, trailing Bukayo Saka, who has 10. In total, Salah has contributed 21 goals and assists in the league, the most in Europes top five leagues.
Liverpool remain at the top of the Premier League with 35 points, with Chelsea and Arsenal following in second and third, respectively. The Reds will now focus on their next challenge, a Merseyside derby against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, December 7th, at 230 PM Cairo time.
