Safety Operation Conducted In Mthatha
A multi-disciplinary road and safety operation was conducted in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape today.
Its part of the continuous effort by the province to make its roads safer and create a safe environment for tourism to flourish in.
Police Commissioner in the OR Tambo Region, Major General Norman Modishana says todays operation was also looking at the issue of crime prevention.
"This operation that we are doing right now, it is a roadblock and in this roadblock, we are looking at suspected stolen vehicles, drunken driving, dangerous weapons, undocumented people. We are also looking at possession of unlicensed firearms. We are looking at a range of issues. We know this road is one of the roads contributing to accidents."
The King Sabatha Dalindyebo Local Municipality has also intensified its safety and security measures in the Mthatha Central Business District.
