The South African Communist Party SACP has vowed to use its 5th Special National Conference to review its relationship with the African National Congress ANC and assert its independence in the alliance.
This follows concerns that its partnership with the ANC has undermined its independence and diluted its political influence.
The party will convene its four-day meeting from the 11th to the 14th of next month in Boksburg east of Johannesburg.
The meeting comes at a time when the alliance is facing a number of challenges.
This ranged from the ANCs declining electoral performance due to growing voter disillusionment among others.
