The South African Broadcasting Corporation SABC has reassured the public that Generations: The Legacy will continue to air for at least one more season.

Last week, reports emerged that the popular soapies production would not resume on Monday 7 April as scheduled.

This was because the state-owned broadcaster had not yet issued a new contract for the shows next season, according to a letter from producers to actors.

The actors were on a production break that was set to end on Friday 4 April. At this point, we cannot say exactly how long we will need to pause production, the producers wrote in the letter.

But we have been given many assurances by the SABC that the contract will definitely be issued. Also, that this is being done as quickly as possible.

This created uncertainty over the beloved soapies future on SABC. Producers further told the actors that they would not receive any payments during the production break.

Generations: The Legacy will get another season

In a statement on over the weekend, SABC clarified Generations: The Legacy s contract situation. It said the current season Season 33 is under contract.

The agreement for Season 34 is in place and in the final stages of completion between both parties, the broadcasters spokesperson Mmoni Ngubane said.

The SABC and Morula Pictures would like to reassure the public that Generations: The Legacy will continue to air on SABC 1 without any interruption between Seasons 33 and 34.
