South African 2019 World Cup winner Sbu Nkosi has been handed a three-year ban by World Rugby after testing positive for an anabolic steroid, according to the Cheetahs, Cape {town} Etc reports.

A Cheetahs official, who asked not to be named, confirmed to AFP that Sbu had a World Rugby test in May and his A sample was positive. He has been banned for three years.

According to News24 , Nkosi's sample revealed traces of an anabolic steroid commonly used by bodybuilders, and South African media reports indicate that his suspension will last until 15 July, 2027.

The 28-year-old winger, who was a backup to Cheslin Kolbe during the 2019 World Cup in Japan, is the second player from that championship team to face a doping ban.

Flyhalf Elton Jantjies was suspended for four years in January for a similar offense.
