Sa Engages Regional Leaders On Mozambiques Post-election Violence
International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola says President Cyril Ramaphosa is consulting with the current Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to find a solution to the violence in Mozambique.
Lamola is leading a South African delegation of high-ranking officials in talks with their Mozambican counterparts. He says the post-election violence which has also halted operations at the Lebombo border is posing a risk to energy security.
Lamola says infrastructure will be protected from both sides. He adds that they will focus on bilateral relations in the areas of security and trade.
According to the Minister, the parties have agreed to wait for the final results to be announced by the Mozambican Constitutional Council in a few days.
