Sa Child Porn Suspect Identified Through International Law Agency
Police say a 35-year-old male suspect who was arrested earlier in Midrand , in Johannesburg was identified through an international law agency and effectively arrested in South Africa.
Over 10 million images and videos of child pornography were found at his residence.
Police say the man was also found to be in possession of drugs.
SAPS Spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says he was involved in the distribution network.
We collaborated with international law enforcement, where they have shared information with us, where they have identified a target in South Africa. We then furthered the investigation, where they then revealed the location of the suspect, where you now see the takedown taking place behind us. Common or not common with the onset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it enabled cyber crimes to come to the forefront. So, you would also recall that we also had similar arrests made in December, where we have arrested 41-year-old former teacher in Pretoria and at 49-year-old suspect, where they are also facing multiple charges related to possession and distribution, accessing and downloading of child pornography, says Van Wyk.
