Runaway Firefighters Clock R230,000 For Wildfire Services

The City of Cape Town has confirmed that the 2025 Two Oceans Half Marathon charity has generated an impressive R230,000 for the Volunteer Wildfire Services VWS, reports Cape town Etc .
This annual event saw a spirited team of city firefighters, including Renaldo Duncan, Liam Gannon, Thomas Lennon, and renowned former Springbok hooker James Dalton, come together to demonstrate their dedication to both community and the environment.
Participating just two weeks ago in the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon, the firefighters took on the challenge not just for personal achievement but to raise much-needed funds for the replacement of a crucial vehicle that supports the VWS in its firefighting efforts.
The fundraising initiative has gained momentum since it began as a friendly challenge in 2017, and it has evolved into an important tradition highlighting the vital work done by VWS in combating bushfires, a pressing concern for the landscapes of the Western Cape.
In a heartfelt message, the City of Cape Town celebrated the contributions of the runners, saying, A shout out to our runners, Jermaine Carelse, Renaldo Duncan, Liam Gannon, Thomas Lennon, and former Springbok, James Dalton! And a word of appreciation to all who donated to the cause, especially Santam for their generous R100,000 donation. We see you, we thank you and we couldn't have done it without you,
