Ruben Amorim, the newly appointed Manchester United coach, has expressed discomfort with the chants that fans have been singing in his honor. After Uniteds commanding 4-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, and a 3-2 win over Bod/Glimt in the Europa League, fans at Old Trafford began singing the song "Give It Up" by KC and the Sunshine Band, which is associated with Amorim's name.
Although Amorim has led the team to two wins and a draw since taking charge, he admitted on Monday that he felt uneasy about the chant. Amorim explained that he prefers the fans to direct their chants towards the players and the club, rather than him as the coach. He added that while he did not feel embarrassed, he preferred to keep the focus on the teams collective achievements.
