Mpumalanga Police have urged residents not to take law into their own hands but report suspects to the police.

This after the residents of Pienaar, east of Mbombela, apprehended a man suspected to be behind the murder of two minor children, Junior Mabandla and Peaceful Khoza.

The remains of Mabandla were found buried on top of another grave while the remains of the three-year-old girl Peaceful Khoza were found buried in a shallow grave behind a house of the suspects grandmother.

The 18-year-old man is currently in hospital after he was severely assaulted by angry residents. Mpumalanga Acting Provincial Police Commissioner, Zeph Mkhwanazi met with the two bereaved families in Pienaar.

The community moved in and we appreciate what they did but the only thing is that they must not take the law into their own hands. We definitely must be informed and be able to do the job because we have detectives led by Brigadier Pule, we are at large looking for the person, we are definitely going to move forward working with the community as well. We urged them and we request them to inform us so that we can be in position to come and assist them.
