Residents To Suffer Most Amid Eskom, City Of Joburg Conflict: Outa
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse OUTA is set to submit written representations on the matter between Eskom and the City of Johannesburg as well as it power utility, City Power .
This after Eskom announced that it would enforce power cuts for the city from next month due to a dispute on non-payment.
This will leave hundreds of thousands of households in the dark although many of them are fully paid-up customers of City Power and others have prepaid meters.
OUTAs Executive Director, Advocate Stephanie Fick, says residents will suffer the most in the conflict.
Who is R4.9 billion behind on its electricity payment? And that is not including the November 1.3 billion. So obviously that tells me that although residents pay over the money to the City of Joburg , they are not paying that money over to Eskom and that is a big worry, says Fick.
