resident accuses cape town mayor of power abuse in neighbourhood feud

An investigation has been launched after a Cape Town resident lodged a formal accusation against Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis for allegedly abusing his position of power and engaging in harassment in what began as a neighbourhood disagreement, reports Cape town Etc .

This is according to a statement by the GOOD Partys Suzette Little, who reported that the dispute between the Edgemead resident and Hill-Lewis - whose mother-in-law also resides in Edgemead - escalated to a legal matter following an email from the mayor.

GOOD has seen an email sent by Hill-Lewis to the complainant stating he has a strong suspicion the resident is operating an illegal car repair workshop at a private residence, a land use violation, said Little.

Law Enforcement has been called to the residents property on four separate occasions, with no evidence found to support the accusations.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed that an intimidation case was registered.
