A multi-agency effort, consisting of more than 20 volunteers and professionals from Wilderness Search and Rescue WSAR, resulted in the successful rescue of a 43-year-old woman on Sunday morning, reports Cape town Etc .
According to the non-profit organisation, rescuers and WCG Health and Wellness EMS paramedics abseiled 40 metres down a steep slope from Chapmans Peak Drive to reach the woman.
She was assessed and treated before being placed into a rescue stretcher, explained WSAR.
Teams on the road used a rope hauling system, rigging ropes from the vehicles parked at the scene, to carefully raise the rescue team and stretchered patient back up to the road.
During the rescue mission, City of Cape Town traffic officials marshalled traffic past the scene to ensure the rescuers safety on the narrow road.
