'reintroduction Of Incentives Helped With Eskom's Turnaround Plan'
Eskom CEO Dan Marokane says the reintroduction of performance incentives has helped keep the focus on the company turnaround plan.
He was speaking to SABC News on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Morokane says Eskom suspended its performance incentives five years ago.
He says, I just want to reiterate the principle and the principle is one of awarding and rewarding good performance. We have set ourselves very clear targets in terms of the turnaround. We assess ourselves very objectively, when we meet this we incentive our employees, this is a very good component of the staff.
Our focus is that these incentives pay for themselves, the saving that we have made over R16 billion in diesel spent alone to date in comparison to, we have already indicated to you that the business will turn itself back to profitability. So, the amount of money spent in relation to the kind of savings and the progress we are making, the saving we generated for the country overall without load shedding essentially far outweighs the numbers we looking at from an incentive perspective. People are very important, they drive this turnaround, Morokane adds.
