Readers Report Solid Festive Season Performance

Reflecting solid festive season growth for South Africas tourism industry, 70 of respondents to our latest poll stated their businesses performed either better than or equivalent to last season.
The largest proportion of respondents 39 said their tourism business performed better than last season while 31 said performance was about the same. A 30 proportion indicated business was worse than last year.
Although South Africas December inbound tourism arrival figures have not yet been compiled, early data from the start of the summer high season highlighted an encouraging year-on-year rise in arrivals . Overseas arrivals rose by 8.6 in November, compared with the same month last year, to over 212 000 driven primarily by a 10.6 increase from the critically important European market.
