Johannesburg Transport MMC Kenny Kunene says the 45 new Rea Vaya feeder buses in Soweto will not be operational until further notice.
This after operations were halted yesterday afternoon, following a dispute with the taxi industry in the area.
Commuters can however still access Rea Vaya buses outside the Soweto area.
Kunene says registration issues have led to the new buses not being available.
"Mistakes happened from the depot where the buses were deployed to go and collect people with the wrong registration number plates and they were supposed to have made sure that before the buses go out they have the GP number plates. The taxi industry became very angry because as per the industry standards, you have to operate a bus or a taxi with the registration of that province, So, we apologise for that inconvenience caused."
