Rape Suspect Manhunt Under Way In Giyani

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl who was on her way to school at Ribungwani outside in Giyani, Limpopo. Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the armed man dragged the girl to nearby bushes and raped her.

Mashaba says the suspect offered the girl money not to disclose the incident to anyone. Mashaba says he also robbed the girl of her cellphone.

A massive manhunt is underway for an unknown African male suspect who allegedly raped a 16-year-old learner on her way to school in the Hlanganani policing precinct on 03 March 2025, while the victim was walking alone on a secluded road from Ribungwani village. According to reports, the suspect, wearing a black bulletproof vest and armed with a firearm, accosted the victim, dragged her to the bushes, and raped her at gunpoint.
