Rand Water Maintenance Project To Impact Gauteng Residents

Rand Water has issued a notice to Gauteng residents of a scheduled repair to a leak on the O2 Pipeline under Nasmith Road in Germiston, East of Johannesburg.

The repair work started at six this morning and will continue until six tomorrow morning.

Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo says during this time, the O2 Pipeline will be temporarily shut down.

She says this maintenance project will impact water supply to Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg and Madibeng.

In terms of the communication protocol, Rand Water has formally informed the affected municipal customers of the pending project by issuing a 21-day advance notification to allow the entities to communicate with the affected residents, and to plan and execute appropriate contingency plans.
