Rand Strengthens After Falling Short In December

The rand has begun the new year on a slightly higher note, after a turbulent close to 2024 .

Trade in the local currency was erratic in November and December last year.

This after Donald Trumps re-election as President of the United States of America, due to a more hawkish view from the Federal Reserve and uncertainty about his measures including planned tariffs.

The strength of the greenback and global forces have continued to have a negative short-term outlook for the rand.

The rand is currently trading at at R18,86 to the dollar.
