President Cyril Ramaphosa has requested Business Unity South Africa (Busa) to present specific suggestions on how to address unresolved issues related to the National Health Insurance Act.
Ramaphosa met with the Busa leadership yesterday to discuss the NHI.
The scheme aims to establish a state fund to cover the medical costs of all South Africans but has faced strong opposition from the business organisation as well as some members of the Government of National Unity (GNU).
The Presidency has described the meeting attended by the Health Minister, his deputy and senior officials as constructive.
Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says, Government remains committed to engaging with all stakeholders in good faith on the process of healthcare reform and to finding workable solutions. That will advance quality and affordable health care for all.
