Ramaphosa Urges Members To Rebuild Party Structures In Western Cape

African National Congress ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has raised concerns over what he has termed weak party branches in the Western Cape. The party has not been in power in the province since 2009 after losing to the Democratic Alliance DA.

Speaking to party supporters at the January 8th statement in Khayelitsha today, Ramaphosa says weaker branches in the province have contributed to the party being unable to govern with a majority.

We found exactly the same thing our branches have become weak, and the weakening of our branches has led to us losing the ability to govern on our own. So, this, comrades, is a huge lesson for us. We need to revive our branches. We need to work hard, says Ramaphosa.

The ANC President also told party supporters that the ANC will prioritise services to the people of the province .

We seek to improve the quality of services and integrity and responsiveness and accountability of government in all spheres. Thirdly, we aim to renew and rebuild the ANC so that it can provide decisive and ethical leadership in the resolution of our countrys problems, says Ramaphosa.
