President Cyril Ramaphosa says he is busy studying the report of Justice and Constitutional Development Minister, Thembi Simelane on allegations around the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank.

Simelane allegedly took a loan of more than R 500 000 from a company that brokered unlawful investments worth R349 Million in VBS by the Polokwane Municipality while she was Mayor of the city in 2016.

Ramaphosa told the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) that he will need some time before he decides on the way forward.

He says, "As soon as the story around herself arose, I asked for a report. A report that will outline precisely what the actual situation is. She has just submitted the report to me with all the documents and the attachments, which I am now studying. I have said publicly that I would like time and space to look at this and to examine all this and be able to see how we take this forward."
