President Cyril Ramaphosa is facing criticism from political parties for being slow to act on allegations of impropriety levelled against Justice Minister Thembi Simelane, linked to the now-liquidated VBS Mutual Bank.

Ramaphosa is answering questions in the National Assembly in Cape Town. He says he will be giving the matter consideration soon.

Simelane sent Ramaphosa a report last month, but he has yet to publicly express his views on the issue.

Earlier this month, ActionSA laid criminal charges against Simelane in Polokwane, for alleged violations of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act, as well as the common law crime of forgery, relating to the R575 600 loan.

Ramaphosa says he needs time and space to deal with Simelanes case.
