President Cyril Ramaphosa is calling on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly against those found to use banned substances in food that led to the death of children in the country in recent weeks.
The Presidency says Ramaphosa has been monitoring the work done by various government departments to respond to the tragedy.
Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says, The law enforcement agencies are attending to the matter and tests have been conducted. Those that have been concluded have shown the presence of an illegal substance.
The President calls on law enforcement agencies to act with speed in bringing those involved in the utilisation of those banned substances that have taken two lives of the children to be dealt with within the context of the law and to be dealt with speedily. So that the families can find some closure when they see justice being carried out.
Meanwhile, Magwenya says Ramaphosa also sends condolences and messages of support to all affected families.
