Rains Halt Search For Man Swept Away In Hennops River
A search for a man who was swept away by floods in the Hennops River in Centurion south of Pretoria has been called off due to rain.
It is believed that he jumped into the river in an attempt to run away from security guards.
Tshwane Emergency services spokesperson, Lindsay Mnguni says the operation might take long due to the length of the river and bad weather.
The only time that we call off the search is when the situation becomes dangerous for the rescuers to continue. And also, if we have searched thoroughly where we are situated at, then it means that we must relocate to another position. This is a dangerous river, especially now that it is flooded.
Meanwhile, it was reported on Saturday that flooding in Centurion claimed two lives after vehicles were washed away amid heavy rains.
