raf ceo letsoalo denies alleged r79 million lease deal scandal

Road Accident Fund RAF CEO, Collin Letsoalo, has denied alleged wrongful involvement in a R79 million lease deal for the Funds offices . Letsoalo says there are processes and procedures that need to take place to secure a lease, including consultations with the National Treasury.

Letsoalo was speaking in a media briefing at the Funds headquarters in Pretoria, following the Special Investigating Units SIU preliminary report which found among other things, allegations of tender manipulation in leasing, cleaning, security and legal services.

A preliminary report by the SIU regarding alleged wrongdoing by the RAF CEO was leaked to the media. According to the Sunday Times , Letsoalo is accused of overturning bid committee decisions which involved a R79 million lease deal to secure the Funds Johannesburg offices.

The Funds CEO is accused of favouring Mowana Properties, rewarding the company with a five-year tender contract. Mowana Properties is a Government Employees Pension Fund GEPF portfolio company.

So, its not a friend of mine. So, when they say it is like one property, are friends of mine that I just decided to give something to and the people who were sent, they just came back and said we like that building. Lets move into theres no such a thing, Letsoalo says.
