R1.2 Million Reward Offered To Find Baanksy, The Missing Painting Sheep
Farm Sanctuary SA is offering a R1.2 million reward for the safe return of its beloved Rambrandt of animal art, and Pigcasso-prodigy, BAANKSY, who was last seen on Saturday evening, 1 February 2025, reports Cape town Etc .
According to the Franschhoek-based animal rescue sanctuary, Baanksys disappearance was discovered when he did not arrive at his art studio on Sunday, 2 February, to work on a commission that had been booked by a family visiting from the UK.
Despite a full investigation and search conducted by police, there were no clues of his current whereabouts, nor was there any evidence of a break-in.
Baanksy is a 2.5-year-old sheep that was rescued in 2022 from the side of the road in the Karoo - an intensive sheep farming region of South Africa, said Farm Sanctuary SA.
Beyond its offerings of wine-tastings, barn-style accommodation, plant-based cafe and farm animal rescue services, Farm Sanctuary SA became a well-known Franschhoek landmark as the home of Pigcasso , a painting pig who was saved from the slaughterhouse in 2016 that later became the most accomplished animal artists in history.
